Visiting with Dr Frankel (matt@matthewfrankelmd.com) by Email

Matthew C Frankel, MD, FACP allows you to communicate with us by using your computer about things such as scheduling office visits, asking questions about billing, sending medical information you got somewhere else (for example, if you got a flu shot), and even talking with Dr Frankel.

Why should you try email?
Using email allows you to communicate with your clinician’s office at a time that is good for you, without having to leave your house.

What can I do by email?
You will be able to schedule office visits, send questions to the office about bills and other office matters, and ask your doctor questions. Dr Frankel will be able to send you results from tests that you’ve had and discuss what needs to be done. You might be able to avoid coming in to the office for simple problems, such as headaches, colds, and the like, by having what is known as a “web visit.” Dr Frankel and you will discuss your problem by email. If Dr Frankel feels it is a simple problem, he will take care of your problem by email. If he feels that your problem is too complicated to deal with via email, you will be asked to make a regular office visit.

Will this be safe and private?
Privacy is a big concern for email communications. Matthew C. Frankel, MD FACP’s email system uses secure communication methods. As with any note your doctor writes, a copy of this email will be stored in your chart/EHR.

How soon will I hear back?
Our office will try to respond to your email quickly. In most cases, email sent after regular office hours will be answered by noon the next day, and email sent in the morning will be answered by close of business on the same day. If you have a concern that needs to be addressed urgently, it is best to call the office.

When should I not use email?
Do not use email to contact the office if you think you are having an emergency. Call 911 instead. Examples of an emergency might include:
Severe chest pain
Great difficulty breathing
A lot of bleeding
A feeling that you might “pass out”
